Collins Steeplejacks comprises teams of highly skilled and experienced craftspeople who provide an extensive range of specialist building access solutions and building conservation/maintenance services, at varying heights. An unrelenting commitment to best practice Health & Safety is at the very core of all business activities. The company’s strategically managed safety culture is underpinned by a specialist consultancy providing regular height, rescue & safety training
The family business is managed by John O’Mahony and Susan Lynch, son and daughter of its founder, Angela Collins O’Mahony. John and Susan have successfully overseen its evolution to a business that continues to grow its building conservation and maintenance services in addition to providing solutions to difficult access issues for an expanding domestic and international customer base in diverse sectors such as on/offshore energy, communications, aerospace and sports stadia.
In Ireland of the 1960’s, establishing a new indigenous industry was not for the faint hearted. Nor was it common practice for women entrepreneurs to challenge the status quo of the male dominated construction services sector. Yet that is exactly what Angela Collins O’Mahony set out to do in 1968 when, as a young mother from a small farming background in Co Clare, she, along with her husband John, founded Collins Steeplejacks.
As Ireland’s first female steeplejack she clearly had a head for heights and, as it transpired, business. A multiple accolade winner, she was Ireland’s inaugural winner of the prestigious Veuve Cliquot Irish Business Woman of the Year, a past winner of the Bowmaker Award for Irish Industry and was conferred with an honorary degree in recognition of her achievements. In continuous business for almost 50 years, her integration of strong family and business values has now been carried into the next generation of Collins Steeplejacks.
